San Joaquin Valley GIS Day 2000 was a great success!
GIS Day 2000 took place on November 15th. There were over 50 presentations and some were standing room only. A large number of participants came from the GIS user community. We also had several participants who learned about GIS for the first time.

The 2001 GIS Day Conference Schedule and Presenter List will be posted within the next few days.

You can read the presentation schedule or presenter list from the 2000 GIS Day Conference to see what was covered last year.

International GIS Day
GIS Day is a global event for thousands of users of GIS technology to educate millions of children and adults about how geography makes a difference in our lives through the technology of GIS and to demonstrate GIS technology at schools and organizations around the world.

A GIS, or geographic information system, represents computer software, data, and solutions that are used by hundreds of thousands of people worldwide in government, education, and business. Learn more!

1999 marked the first global GIS Day. It was an overwhelming success as the goal to educate one million people on GIS technology was far surpassed--three million people were educated! Over 2,400 events took place around the globe in more than 91 different countries.

GIS Day 2001 will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2001, during Geography Awareness Week which is sponsored by the National Geographic Society.
