The Interdisciplinary Spatial Information Systems Center is a non-profit organization at
California State University Fresno. ISIS is dedicated to providing GIS training, information
sharing and spatial analysis services to the San Joaquin Valley community.
The ISIS Center operates under the direction of
Bob Slobodian, formerly Professor of Geography at Fresno City College and
Malaspina College, British Colombia. Kathy Moffitt, PhD, a founder of the ISIS Center,
is the Associate Director and a full-time faculty member in the Information/Decision Sciences
at CSUF. Mark Hanna chairs the volunteer
Coordinating Committee
of faculty from 9 academic and one administrative department on campus.
Currently ISIS employs Dayna Matsumura - Administrative Assistant, Xiaoming Yang, PhD - Senior Analyst,
Jason Thomas - Spatial Analyst, Debra Dunn
- GIS Technician and
Dan Westbrook (CSUF Academic Resources), Technical Consultant.
Through an agreement with Provost & Pritchard Engineering, Inc., ISIS contracts Julie Steincamp to co-develop and to deliver
GIS training workshops in our GIS lab. ISIS also employs student interns from various academic majors
(both graduate and undergraduate) to work on GIS projects.
